Forbidden Broadway

Fred Barton created the arrangements for the original FORBIDDEN BROADWAY and its first two sequels, and played and performed in the show for 1500 performances. He musically supervised the long-run Boston and Washington, D.C. productions., appeared on the original recording, and made numerous national television appearances with the show.

Fred Barton joined the Music Department of the Tommy Tune - Jeff Calhoun revival of GREASE in the mid-90s, teaching the show to many new incoming cast members, and playing in the pit.

In mid-run, Fred Barton joined the Music Department of the 1992 smash revival of GUYS & DOLLS, starring Nathan Lane and Faith Prince.

The Will Rogers Follies

Fred Barton joined the Music Department of the Tony-Award-winning smash THE WILL ROGERS FOLLIES on Broadway, worked on the National Tour, and conducted two regional productions.

Fred Barton was Associate Conductor of CAMELOT, starring Robert Goulet, on the 1994 National Tour.

Fred Barton served as Associate Conductor of CITY OF ANGELS in the LA production and the subsequent National Tour. He played in the celebrated Broadway pit, and conducted the show’s regional debut at the North Shore Music Theatre.

Fred Barton was Associate Conductor of Hal Prince’s 1987 revival of CABARET, bookended by the production’s two national tours. Ron Field recreated his original choreography, and Joel Grey starred.

Fred Barton served as Associate Conductor on the post-Broadway farewell tour of Anthony Quinn in ZORBA, with music & lyrics by Kander & Ebb.

A musical parody of the Broadway show Hamilton. Written by Gerard Alessandrini, creator of the parody revue Forbidden Broadway, Spamilton also parodies several other musicals, included Gypsy, Chicago, The King and I, Assassins, Camelot, The Book of Mormon and Sweeney Todd, and personalities, like Patti LuPone, Audra McDonald, Stephen Sondheim, Stephen Schwartz, Barbra Streisand, Bernadette Peters, Carol Channing and Liza Minnelli.
